Conversion rate optimisation · step 2: perform

Your traffic is already here.
Make it pay you properly.

Conversion rate optimisation is how you earn more from the visitors you have already paid for. We record what real people do on your site, find the step that loses them, change it, and split-test the change until the numbers agree.

What conversion rate optimisation actually is

Your conversion rate is the percentage of visitors who do the thing you need them to do: enquire, book, buy, subscribe. Conversion rate optimisation is the work of raising that percentage. Not more traffic. More result from the same traffic.

Most businesses answer a quiet month by buying more visitors. It is the expensive answer. If 100 people arrive and 2 enquire, doubling the ad budget buys you 4 enquiries at twice the cost. Fixing the page that lost the other 98 buys you those same 4 at no extra cost, and then every pound of ad spend after it works twice as hard.

Evidence, not opinions

Conversion advice is usually guesswork in a nice deck. Ours isn’t. We install the instruments and watch what actually happens on your site:

  • Session recordings: real visits replayed, including the last thing people looked at before giving up.
  • Heatmaps and touch maps: where visitors click, tap and hover; where they try to click things that aren’t buttons.
  • Scroll depth: how far down your pages people really get (the answer is usually humbling).
  • Funnel analytics: exactly which step of your enquiry or checkout journey leaks the most.
  • Split testing: two versions live at the same time, real visitors deciding between them, the winner kept. Opinions lose to data, including ours.

Then we change what the evidence points at (copy, layout, forms, speed, trust signals) and measure again. No redesigns for redesign’s sake. Occasionally the evidence says the page needs something that isn’t there at all, usually a reason to act now: that’s a lead magnet, and we build those too.

The arithmetic nobody runs

1,000 visitors a month, already paid for
10 enquiries at a 1% conversion rate
20 enquiries at 2%, for the same 1,000 visitors

Same traffic. Same ad spend. Same team. That one percentage point is usually a clearer headline, a shorter form and a page that loads before people give up.

Case study

Tegs Coaching: one clear price changed everything.

The traffic was there. The interest was there. People read the entire site and then quietly left at the pricing. Here is what the evidence showed, and the single change that fixed it.

What the recordings showed

The traffic was doing everything right. People arrived, they read, they scrolled the whole site: about, results, testimonials, the lot. Then they reached the pricing and stopped. No clicks, no enquiry, no exit rage, just hesitation and then gone.

Watch enough of those sessions and the pattern stops being a mystery. Visitors weren’t deciding against the price. They were trying to work out what the price actually was, and confusion at that moment reads as a reason to leave and think about it, which nobody ever does.

What we changed

One clear price. Not a wall of options to compare, not a range with conditions attached, not “packages from” and a table to decode. One number, one thing it buys, one obvious next step underneath it.

What happened

The same visitors, arriving the same way, from the same traffic, started taking the action they had been walking away from. Nothing about the offer changed. Only the moment where people had been asked to do maths instead of make a decision.

That is the whole method in one example: we didn’t redesign the site, we found the exact step that was costing money and removed the confusion in it.

Before we start

Two things this work needs to be worth your money.

We would rather tell you now than take a monthly fee for a service your site can’t yet use. If either of these is missing, we’ll say so and point you at the right fix first.

Requirement 01

A source of traffic

Conversion rate optimisation improves a rate, not a total. If nobody is arriving there is no rate to improve, and nothing to test with: a split test only tells you something once enough real visitors have voted. Below that, you are reading noise and calling it a result.

Search, ads, social, referrals, an email list, a van with your number on it. We don’t mind where the visitors come from, only that they keep coming.

No steady traffic yet? That’s a build-and-attract job first. Start with web development, then come back and we’ll make it pay.

Requirement 02

Access to your site’s back end

We change the real thing, not a mock-up of it. That means logins to your website and to whatever supports it: analytics, forms, booking, CRM, payments. We install the recording tools, then ship the fixes they justify.

Prefer to keep the keys? We can work read-only and hand you the changes to apply. It just costs time, and time is the one thing a leaking funnel keeps spending.

Nothing goes live without your say-so, and every change is reversible.

Platforms we work on

  • WordPress
  • Wix
  • Squarespace
  • Shopify
  • Custom stack builds

Built on something else, or on something nobody has touched in years? Tell us what it is. We have yet to meet a stack we couldn’t get into.

If we can change the code, we can change your income.

The work

What a month of this actually looks like.

The same loop every month, and it compounds: every test you win becomes a floor you never drop below again.

  1. Record

Recordings, heatmaps, scroll depth and funnel data run continuously on your site. Weekly on the Thatcher package, around the clock on the Churchill package.

  2. Research

We look outward as well as in: what your competitors are doing, what your customers have been trained to expect elsewhere, and which of those habits your site is fighting.

  3. Diagnose

Everything points at one biggest leak. We write it down as a testable statement (“the form loses people at the phone-number field”), not a vague feeling that the page needs refreshing.

  4. Split test

We build both versions and run them against live traffic. The winner stays, the loser goes, and a loss is still worth knowing: it just cost you nothing to find out.

  5. Report

One clear page: what changed, what happened, what’s next. Numbers in plain English, including the tests that didn’t work. No 40-page decks.

Development time is included in both packages. We don’t hand you a list of recommendations and an invoice for someone else to action them.

Packages

Two ways to run it. Both monthly.

Both include the development work to ship the changes. The difference is how closely we watch, and how often we test.

Standard

The Thatcher Package

£599 a month

Steady, disciplined improvement. One properly tested change a month, and the receipts to prove it.

  • Weekly analytics recording & review
  • Market research on your competitors
  • Monthly split testing
  • Web development included
  • Monthly report in plain English

Premium

The Churchill Package

£1,299 a month

For sites where every day of traffic is money. We never stop watching, and we test every week.

  • 24/7 analytics recording & monitoring
  • Market research on your competitors
  • Weekly split testing
  • Web development included
  • Weekly report in plain English
Request a Call Back

Named after two people who never accepted “that’s just how it is” as an answer. Not sure which one fits? Ask on the call and we’ll tell you honestly which your traffic can justify.

Straight answers

What people ask before they start.

How quickly will I see a difference?

Month one is mostly instrumenting and watching, with the first test running by the end of it. Meaningful, compounding gains usually show across three to six months. Anyone promising a transformation in a fortnight is guessing with your money.

What if a test loses?

Some will. That is the honest half of the method: you keep the version that won, you learn what your customers don’t respond to, and it cost you a month of traffic you were spending anyway rather than a full redesign.

Do I have to be on WordPress?

No. We work on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify and custom stacks, including ones we didn’t build. If we can get into it, we can test on it.

Who actually does the development?

We do, and it is included. Because we’re developers and systems people as well as analysts, a slow page, a broken flow or a form that fails on one phone model gets fixed rather than written up as a recommendation to hire someone who can.
